My great uncle Lloyd T. McGrath served with the 101st Airborne on hamburger hill and other major battles. He was awarded the Air Medal, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Army commendation medal.

I am very pleased to find a association quiet like this one. I knew my great uncle wasn't the only one to serve in vietnam but to see everybody else makes me very happy.

Admin reply: Thank you Joshua for signing our guestbook and a big welcome home to your great uncle! There were a few Canadians who had the courage and dedication to sign up with the US Armed Forces and fight the communists in Vietnam!

Paul and CVVA, great job as always, this site is really informative and will continue to send info or interest to all Veterans. Also, should anyone need the use of an ice house near Devils Lake, I have one which is available, due to neck surgery recovery. I am not allowed to use it, so it is available to any Veteran. Rainman

Admin reply: Thanks Rainman for the offer of your Ice House. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery!

After I was released from the reg. army I served with the Az. Nat. guard the Mo. national guard and the federal army reserves. I was chief interrogator for a Psy. ops co. until it came time for me to reenlist when it was discovered that I had developed an irregular heart beat and could not reenlist. I'm strictly a Viet Nam Era Vet, but still I was upset that Viet Nam Vets weren't included in the roll call on Nov 11. Heck, I didn't know why we were excluded. Now I know what other vets went through. Although I was born in Marathon, Ontario, I served in the USMC from Nov 1972 till Oct 1976, and then in-active reserve till 1978. I stayed mostly stateside, but I'll never forget HMS 31, Beaufort, SC, USA. I'm glad to see that there is some support for Viet Vets from Canada. This will probably be my only post to CVVA, but you have my respect and appreciation for the work you have done to help other CVV's get help they may need. ooorah- semper fi

Admin reply: Hi Patrick, thank you for your 6 years of military service and commitment to the United States Marine Corps. It's always an honor to have a Canadian who served in the US Armed Forces sign our guestbook.

Here in Winnipeg, the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Association have participated for many years in the wreath laying ceremonies at the annual Joint Veterans Association Remembrance Day Service. Only through the persistence and dedication of our President Ron Parks and Treasurer Rob Purvis that we the CVVA are being recognized as a bona fide veteran group.

I served with CBMU-302 in Cam Ranh Bay, Hon Khoi and Saigon from 1970 to 1971 with the POTUS Vietnamization program, which was constructing dependent Shelters for Vietnamese Navy families located at coastal Navy bases. These were built by many different Seabee Battalions from the DMZ to the southern most part of the country. I'm proud of all Serviceman/ woman who served their Country on both sides of the border. Welcome home.
