I realize it has been a while since of had any contact with the CVVA/VVA. I have missed so much, and want to congratulate the Webmaster for keeping it going. It is truly an asset.

Thanks to all the Canadians who served and sacrificed all during the Vietnam War. As a veteran i wish to thank all of you who served. I only hope one day the Canadian government realizes the sacrifice you have made and gives you'll the recognition and honor you deserve.

I am interested in getting in touch with a colleague with whom I worked . His name was Michael Champion. Michael was a Sargent assigned with to the international Control Commission (ICC) in Saigon Vietnam in 1964/65 .
He was later assigned to the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. this was during 1978/79.
Michael was a very good friend. We lost touch wit( each other after Washington, after I was reassigned to Wellington New Zealand. .
I would be very grateful if I could be provided with his coordinance.
.

Admin reply: We will make some inquiries and see if we can locate him.
Thanks for your post

I am researching and reaching out to other Canadians who served in the U.S. armed forces in Vietnam for a book I am writing about the experiences of veterans after the war.
I would like to contact some of the people I see listed in the guest book.

Our family moved to the Indianapolis area in 1961, then on to Portland Oregon in 1965. I joined the sea cadets while in high school and made my mind up to be a sailor. ( I was even selected to spend three weeks at the Quadra Canadian Sea Cadet Base on Vancouver Island. After much hazing I finished pretty well in the training cycle.)
That decision ended in a twenty-one year career as an enlisted man and line officer. My ship ( USS Blue Ridge, LCC-19), made two deployments in 1972 and 1973. We were active in supporting the ground forces and came under fire from a shore battery in July '72. We also participated in the mine clearance of Hanoi Harbor.

Admin reply: Thanks for sharing your experience Dave, it's great to hear stories of Canadians who served in the US military

Sponsered to US in 1962. Obtained green card. Worked at American biltrite, Chelsea, Mass. Enlisted in US Army 1963 for basic at Ft. Dix, N.J., then outo Ft. Leonardwood for AIT. Joined US Army Corps of Engineers as a crane & shovel operator & sailed to Korea on USS Mann, three weeks. Landed at Inchon last of june 1965. Thats when the fun started but thats another story.Discharged at Fort Hood, 1967. Did some traveling in US but wasn't all that impressed because of the resistance when got offf the plane in Seattle from Japan. Flew to Forthood for discharge & drove home to NFLD. Renewed old friendships, returned to trade school, found true love, got married & love life & family. The short time in Nam was a real eyeopener. RIP to all veterans, all gave some.......some gave all
