Interesting. Very few realize how many Canadians served in Vietnam.

Admin reply: Hi Patrick, thank you for your comment and for signing our guestbook.

With the continuing efforts of the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Association, notably Rob Purvis and Ron Parkes, we are making huge progress in getting the word out to Canadians and Americans alike of the sacrifices some of us have made in fighting in the Vietnam War while serving with the U.S. Armed Forces. We are very proud to have fought side by side with our American friends, one of Canada's greatest ally.

Thanks for a JOB WELL DONE. My big brother Edie Watson made her through the killing fields wounded with three gun shot wounds through his dorsal. The googs butheaded him and he took it. He was left for dead. Edie made it back home to us in his brand new corvette. Celebrate we did. After a few days Edie went back to work in the State of Washington. That was the last we all seen of Edie. The sun got in his eyes on a Rocky Mountain road nothing to be found of Edie and only a few bits of car. I wrote this in remembrance of a good man who treated me like a little brother. Thanks again fellas. You made a difference. Peace be with you all and may peace come into the earth soon. Yours alway; rolie.

Admin reply: Thank you Roland for sharing the amazing story on your big brother Edie. May he rest in peace knowing he gave his best in the difficult Vietnam War. We'll be thinking of him on Remembrance Day. God Bless!

I only learned about you men today. I am moved that you would come and serve for the US. I was a kid when the war ended, about 12. My father served two tours there. I joined the Army because of it but only served in Germany during the Cold War. I always wanted to go into combat but am older and wiser now. I would have joined up in a minute back then had I been old enough. Thank you for serving and making the sacrifices you all made. All of you are heroes as far as I can tell.

Hats off to every one of you, especially the ones who didn't come back.

Admin reply: Thank you Jeff for your military service and for your Dad's Vietnam War service. It's always nice to hear from Patriots like you and your father who have served in the US Armed Forces.

Dear C.V.V.A.

My name is Chadwick Wheeler and I am studying history to obtain a MA at Wilfrid Laurier University. The reason I am contacting you is to inquire on finding participants for my research project. I will be examining the roles of Canadians who fought in the Vietnam War as part of the American armed forces.

Would anybody in your organization be interested in participating in an online email survey, phone interview, or oral interview? This research project is less about the combat experiences and more focused on the process of enlistment, training, and life after returning from Vietnam.

Confidentiality would be of utmost importance, and more details of how it will be maintained will be provided to potential participants. This project has received approval from the WLU Research Ethics Board under the tracking number REB#4064. Please feel free to respond by email at whee0540@mylaurier.ca.

Admin reply: Canadian Vietnam Veterans who served with the United States Armed Forces are invited to contact Chadwick Wheeler at the above email address.
