Comments: I served in Viet Nam in 1968-69,and returned to the states to become a DI at Fort Lewis WA. I was amazed at the number of Canadians that crossed the border to join the U.S.Army,and serve beside us in the war. I am so proud of this Wall to Honor our Brothers in Arms.I thank you for the great work you have done to bring the long over due Honor to our Brave Comrades.Thank you and welcome Home.
Admin reply: Hi Steve, Welcome Home! and thank you so much for signing our guestbook. Many of us Canadians served in the US Armed Forces fighting in Vietnam against communist aggression.
Some of us took basic training in Fort Lewis, WA and I for one was in the 1st PLT. A CO. 4th BN. 1st BDE and graduated in May 1969. My DI, SSG.Collin(s) was a Vietnam veteran like you and a Purple Heart recipient, wounded in the right arm. Sure would love to thank that man for the training he gave me in order to stay alive in Nam.
Keep in touch Steve, as it was nice to hear from a Vietnam veteran and former DI from Fort Lewis, WA!

Comments: Great finding your organization and website! I served as an 0331/8651 M60 Machinegunner/Force Recon with "C" 1/9 3rd MARDIV "The Walking Dead" from 1968 - '70. Participated in Operation Dewey Canyon, Apache Snow, and several others in the A Shau Valley, running patrols throughout the I Corps area including Con Thien, Cam Lo, Dong Ha, Quang Tri. Khe Sanh, and the Rock Pile. Later on, was in the very first official troop pullout ordered by then President Nixon, as 1/9 boarded the WWII troop carrier USS Paul Revere to redeploy to Okinawa. Also served on the amphibious assault LPH USS New Orleans for several months off the coast of Viet Nasm in the China Sea. Was born and lived in "The Point" in Montreal, moved to SoCal in the '60's, did my time in the Marines, and became a naturalized US citizen when I got out of the service in 1972. Proud to be one of the few Canadians serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Thanks for doing such a great job of keeping the Canadian spirit alive.
Admin reply: Hi Ted, thank you for visiting our C.V.V.A. cyber home and for signing the guestbook. We always love to hear from a Canadian born U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran! Comments: I am a Nam Vet,1965-66,1968-69,served with both the 1st and 3rd Marine Division. Member of VVA chapter 862 Beaver,Pa. Skip Haswell our president emailed me and told me about your unit. Im a U.S.Citizen,living in Canada. was a recruiter in Niagara Falls,NY. in 67-68 and signed up many fine Canadians who later served with honor in Vietnam.Am also a member of Korean Veterans of Canada, unit 15,Niagara Area. its an honor to sign your guestbook.
Admin reply: Hi Bill, it’s an honor to have a former Marine recruiter sign our guestbook. Welcome home, you have served your country well by pulling two tours of duty in Vietnam. A friend and I initially had been accepted in the US Marines, but only to have the US Army recruiter sway us into signing with the US Army while the Marine recruiter was away. I still feel I missed out by not having served with the US Marines, even though I’m now proud of my stint with the US Army.
