Military Career in The Marine Corps

Thomas O. Rainsberry enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps on September 08, 1971 and went
Active Duty, January 06, 1972.
-
Tom served in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam
and assigned to the Battalion Landing Team, First Battalion, Ninth Marines, Third Marine Division aboard the USS
Okinawa LPH-3, November 1972.

The "Rainman" also served aboard the USS
Inchon LPH-12, January 1973, in the Gulf of Tonkin. His
duties were Administrative Clerk, Unit Diary Clerk, and
Administrative Chief, or (Grunt/Office Pogy)

Tom was Honorably Discharged from The
Marines in 1973, at Camp Pendleton, California.
Civilian Accomplishments of "Rainman"

Tom served three, 2 year terms as North
Dakota State President for Vietnam Veterans of America. He is
founder of 2 Chapters in ND, serving on the ND Vietnam Veterans
Foundation, NDVVA State Council, Past Chapter offices, and The
National Disciplinary Committee and Membership.

Thomas also served on several positions in the
American Legion on the local level, including the Second District
Commander, Grand Chef de Gare du ND and several other positions
within the Forty et Eight , (The honor society of the American
Legion).

Tom "Rains" served on memberships for the AMVETS,
Legion, VVA, VFW, and Collegiate Vets. He also served 12 years on
The Administrative Committee of Vietnam Affairs, (Governor
Appointment), Life member of the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans
of America, Veterans of Wars, and the Canadian Vietnam Veterans
Association.
