Fred's US Military Career


US Air Force Bases

  • Fred Tramm volunteered and served on Active Duty in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He undertook his basic training in Lackland AFB, then transferred to MacDill AFB and attached to the 836th Hospital Squadron.

South East Asia Assignment

  • Fred joined the 37th Medical Group for a 90 day TDY in South East Asia.

Central America Duty

  • Upon returning from his assignment in South East Asia, Fred volunteered to serve at the Howard AFB Central America.

Veterans Organizations

  • Fred is a member of the Minnesota Patriot Guard, Patriot Guard Riders, The American Legion, American Legion Riders, and the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Association.

Honorable Discharge

  • Fred was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in 1968. He then pursued his civilian career at the Central Du Page Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, as head of the Hematology Department.

  • He then returned to Minnesota and was employed with the State, working with adolescents with mental health problems. Later on in his career, he managed a group home for schizophrenics.
